Terms of service

What Compass does

Compass finds grants, startup funding, perks and programs and checks each call's rules against what you tell us about you and your ventures. We read each call from the funder's own page and a person reviews listings before they go live.

Compass is a guide, not a promise. Funders decide who qualifies and who wins. Calls change, close early or contain errors, and matches rely on what you report. Always check the funder's page before you apply. We do not guarantee that you qualify for, receive or keep any funding.

Your account

• Keep your sign in details safe and tell us if you think someone else used your account.
• Give accurate information. A match is only as good as the record behind it.
• One account per person. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.

Teams

Owners and admins of a venture decide who joins it and what they can do. Anyone on a team can see its matches and tracker. Owners are responsible for who they let in and for removing people who should no longer have access.

Premium, trials and payment

• Premium costs US$10 a month or US$100 a year, plus any tax shown at checkout. Prices are in US dollars everywhere.
• The monthly plan starts with a 14 day free trial, once per person, with a card on file. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the first month is charged.
• Plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from settings, and premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
• We do not refund part periods, except where the law of your country gives you a right to cancel.
• If we change a price, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal.
• The application kit includes a monthly number of AI drafts, shown in the kit. Free accounts get one draft.

The application kit

Drafts are a starting point written by AI from your record. They can be wrong or incomplete. Read and edit every answer before you use it; what you submit to a funder is your responsibility. Compass never submits an application for you.

Fair use

Do not:

• scrape, copy or resell listings or matches, or give paid access to people outside your team;
• misrepresent who you are or your venture to us or to funders;
• try to break, overload or get around the limits or security of the service;
• use Compass for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

Your content

You own what you put into Compass. You let us use it only to run the service for you and your team. Listings, matching rules and the service itself belong to us or our licensors.

Liability

Compass is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost funding, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Closing your account

You can stop using Compass and ask us to close your account at any time. We can end these terms with 30 days' notice, or straight away for a serious breach. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

Changes and law

We will email you about changes that matter at least 30 days before they apply. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, and its courts decide any dispute, unless the law of your country says otherwise.
